There is more than one way to PvP. Well I suppose markets are somewhat PVP, but no one posts kill mails about their wallet flashing. Calling station traders elite PVPers would anger a few persons on here anyways. Let's say for Market PvP you were to post in the Market Discussion forums. I pay mercenaries 200b to destroy you. That is market PvP.
Other examples are, you post in the market certain sell order, and I buy one of your item to get your name. I send mercs after you, or spies to scout your structures were you build stuff for sale, such as drug boosters. Market PvP 2, although less than 200b. |

Out of curiosity, how would mercenaries kill a trader? There's literally nothing you can do to someone that doesn't undock and has half a clue how the market works. Killing is one way to PvP, but if the manufacturer never undocks, he cannot be killed.
The other options are to control the market buy buying items (all) and to deny potential profit.
However, mercenaries can kill traders who haul items and make them lose collaterals.
Destroying POS also works great against drug booster production. This is about to change with citadels. |

Mmmh yeah, and poster's making suggestions that are not unprofitable instead of developing time management systems to avoid to waste other's time. That could also be a Market PvP although it also goes out of EVE. |

Pretty much someone that's it's safe to ignore.
He gets the Daily Quac award though for James Beam levels of BS. over 33K on right now! Point out that when I started eve, a saturday afternoon never was that high. There are fewer alts in eve too. Lets keep up the good work and keep on communicating with CCP to make this game phenominal. At this time, we really ought to not think of this as a game, but right back at early access. Recent development and player communication initiatives all follow a proper kickstarter/early access configuration! over 33k player accounts logged online ? I saw over 19k last time. |

Otso Bakarti wrote:Surely we can pump this thing up to 3,000! Let's put those brains together and see if we can come up with a hemisphere! I rather have one good posts that solves all the problem than 3000 trying to solve a problem, which leads to finding out that it didn't solve the problem while the same problem was then caused to be more problematic.
Now, let's verify a few factors.
1st. Is the Decline in numbers a problem?
2nd. Is the starting to turn into RAPID effect normal given the circumstances or to be expected.
3rd. What are the best solutions.
4th. How to implement those solutions, or, how to actually solve the potential problem with one of those conditions or a combination of those solutions components...
As for the First point, Is the Decline in numbers a problem? I really do wonder, because as CCP mentioned (or pointed out) , the decline in numbers wasn't so much a decline in player numbers , but more of a decline in player accounts number being logged in .
Now, that may or may not include inactive accounts, as an inactive account doesn't have to be logged in to exist.
Also, there are many more variation related to the fact that certain numbers are declining.
To me, when I read this, I thought that the number that was declining was the number of logged in player accounts.
I remember when I started playing in 2012 that the average number was 33k or so, at least 29k . Some day, it went up to over 44k if I remember correctly.
Again, as for decline in number perhaps not being a potential problem or even, perhaps presenting an opportunity instead of simply not being a problem, or not presenting an opportunity, I again I'm not sure.
What if, say, those players were busy testing new waters for the EVE Online systems? How many players worked on the EVE Valkyrie project, or even the other one with the turret gunner? That may or may not account for a change in apparent displayed numbers.
Secondly, The turning into rapid effect. I would expect a certain amount of this to occur in any MMO. Of course that can be controlled to be modified but the players choice still has a lot to do in that control percentage.
I am pretty sure that the number of player accounts logged in is related to the decision of players to log in. They need to be able to acquire PLEx to get more game time (if they have the time for it), or get covered game time for it otherwise.
I remember one other MMO last days where the numbers were much lesser than this game... Of course, the life cycle of the system was already designed to end at that time though. So their decline in numbers was not to be interpreted in the same way due to some different factors involved.
I think those numbers were player made, and when the source of those numbers decide the change, the output can be directly related. It wasn't directly related in the sense that the numbers of players change, but the number of logged in player accounts was changed from the same source (at least partly so, since CCP keeps all rights in regards to their IP). |

I never used isboxing although I saw videos on youtube or twitch of how it would work (perhaps on test servers , but still).

Searching for PCU, I found, EVE Online smashes PCU record during anniversary celebrations
Peak Concurrent User(s)
... replacing 2011's record of 63,170 with a new figure of 65,303 players logged in simultaneously.
+ MCT , Multiple -Character Training , doesn't allow to have those characters logged in at the same time. Online one pilot per account can be logged in at the same time, Additionally, only one trial account can be logged in at any time , and not while an activated account is logged in.
Multiple Activated Accounts can be logged in at the same time, but there are hardware processing limitation.
Multi-boxing can help to lessen the strain on hardware requirement, however, then the strain on the internet connection bandwidth occurs.
[SWG didn't allow to automate player accounts, but it had a way to code for automated processes to manufacture items. I have never used those code, although that I could have tested them and programmed with them. This would have allowed me to literally make droid factories as well as pretty much all of the other 3 types of manufacturing (architectural buildings; domestic food, drink and clothes, and armor and ammo). There were other legal ways to create macros which would automate other functions of the game, I again only used 2 or 3 extremely simple one. The reason being, I wanted to test how much work I could do without those more automated systems.] |

Not every one like this style of marginalizing competition. Of course, there are many legal worthwhile and ingenious ways to fight this, but consider that having a network of 10+ intelligence personnel and mercenaries is not all cookie cutter.

Never tried sov laser or entosis link before.

I always thought that POS could only be anchored in null-sec, and never tried one in High-sec (or low sec, or WH) yet. |

On 2nd thought the problem is even more of an internet problem than other, since the hardware requirement part has been solved.
Now, I also have an even better second video card with some 2 GB or 4 GB VRAM. It would work perfect even on a $100 Dual or Quad Core (CPU) laptop, with 2 GB or 4 GB RAM, external laptop video card adapter (fork a few more bucks).
That laptop is more than 97% likely to have a wifi modem integrated internally, which would let me log in to do market trading. However, that won't be enough internet power to play worthwhile yet, but that will be easy. |

The reason is because I lost one and there is the proof of how.
Also, why should I show it to you and not to the thread? I could have EVE Mailed it to you but didn't .
Also, when will SP trading work? Since it may affect RAPID numbers... |

Gregor Parud wrote:Lan Wang wrote:Malcanis wrote:I think you missed his point there. Enlighten me What Solstice meant is that something doesn't become more fun because it makes more money. It's a silly logic many people use stating that doing lvl 4 is more fun than doing lvl 1 missions, no they're exactly the same just with bigger and slower ships. Something is either fun/entertaining or not regardless of it making money, it is not a deciding factor. In this case the stationary & reactionary play style that is gate camping is boring to some people no matter how much drops, because they want a proactive pay style where they take the initiative instead of hoping someone else chooses to do something that suits the scenario. It's easy to see the difference between a game with 100k players mmo and 250k compared to solo to avoid unfair ban. Btw, what do they do to those making false claims of ban worthy offense in the hope of pvp or is it part of the game?
Since most mmos rely on telcom of internet signal to interact, any refusal of this telcom leaves player solo. Most of the time, 95% + now, I find that trying to join others only lead to delays and interferes against my 3rd party programming time.
Of course I'm 48 years old which makes it different for me in my goals to play than what 13 years old goal at entertainment are. I don't even have time for most people in their 20s.
I don't think that age is important however, and to make age related corps or groups is not the solution. This in fact would lead to more complication rather than to ease conditions.
In the scheme of things related to EVE Online, it may be useful to compare it to other MMOs. I don't suscribe to MMORPG since RPG are more oriented to acting, as in a theatrical performance aiming at representing conditions. I'm more into the scientific reactions between people which brings them together, without faking make believe.
Financial factors matter to the extent that servers cannot be run without resources, be it financial, security or other. For that reason, running the game with free to play players may reduce the capacity to get more players (active or deactivated/inactive).
I could present this model with diagrams and I probably will + copyright it to avoid discrediting. |

I don't know if my trader still has skills to train in his skill queue but I'll also be able to check from EVE Gate instead of having to log in to the client.
I can still check on EVEBoard but it will take a few minutes to clear the cache (for the updated data to backtrack).
On an alternate note, I am going in the test forum to post an audio recording of a forum post to convey the tone better (with open-end captioning).
